Flashing stock firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the most reliable way to fix software issues โ€” bootloops, stuck Samsung logo, system crashes, soft bricks, failed OTA updates and custom ROM problems. This guide covers which flash tool to use, where to download firmware, and the complete flashing procedure.

Which Flash Tool to Use

Odin (Recommended)

Samsung's internal flashing tool. Free, lightweight, works on all Samsung Galaxy devices. Latest version: Odin 3.14.4. Windows only. Requires Samsung USB drivers.

Samsung Smart Switch

Official consumer tool with firmware recovery feature. Limitation: only flashes the latest firmware โ€” cannot choose version or downgrade.

Professional Box Tools (Z3X, UMT, Chimera)

For devices stuck in EDL mode or with corrupted bootloaders. Require paid license and hardware box.

Where to Download Stock Firmware

Find your model (e.g., SM-S938B) and CSC code from Settings โ†’ About Phone. Download from:

  • SamFW.com โ€” free, fast, shows all versions
  • Frija โ€” desktop tool, downloads from Samsung's servers
  • Samloader โ€” open-source command-line tool
  • SamMobile.com โ€” large database

Extracted firmware contains: BL (Bootloader), AP (Application Processor), CP (Modem), CSC (Region), HOME_CSC (Region without data wipe).

How to Flash โ€” Step by Step

Step 1: Install USB Drivers

Download and install Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones. Restart PC.

Step 2: Extract Firmware & Open Odin

Extract firmware ZIP. Run Odin3_v3.14.4.exe as Administrator.

Step 3: Boot into Download Mode

Power off phone. Hold Volume Down + Volume Up, plug in USB cable. Press Volume Up to enter Download Mode.

Step 4: Load Files into Odin

Check Odin shows blue/green box in ID:COM. Load:

  • BL โ†’ BL_*.tar.md5
  • AP โ†’ AP_*.tar.md5
  • CP โ†’ CP_*.tar.md5
  • CSC โ†’ CSC (full wipe) or HOME_CSC (keep data)

Step 5: Configure Options

Check Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time. Do NOT check Re-Partition.

Step 6: Start Flashing

Click Start. Do not disconnect USB. Wait 5-15 minutes. Odin shows PASS! in green when done.

Step 7: First Boot

First boot takes 5-15 minutes. Do not force reboot. Complete setup after boot.

CSC vs HOME_CSC

Use CSC (full wipe): Fix Custom Binary Blocked, remove FRP, downgrade firmware, switch CSC region, severe corruption.

Use HOME_CSC (keep data): Fix bootloop on your own device, manual firmware update, restore stock after unroot.

Troubleshooting

Odin does not detect: Reinstall USB drivers, use USB 2.0 port, try different cable.

FAIL at AP: Re-download firmware (may be corrupted). Check free disk space.

Stuck on Samsung logo: Wait 15-20 minutes. If no boot, enter recovery (Power + Vol Up) and factory reset.

Stuck at SetupConnection: Close Odin, disconnect, reboot to Download Mode, reconnect, reopen Odin.

Bootloop after PASS: Wrong firmware version or bootloader downgrade attempted. Flash correct firmware with matching or newer bootloader.

Blocked by FRP: Used CSC with Google account synced. Enter previous credentials or see FRP Bypass guide.
